Episode 49: Sebastibob

Mid Winter Year 4 — Saturday Morning Breakfast

Outside, it was snowing heavily, the road was closed and there would be no flying today. Inside, the house was warm and full of pent-up energy.

Angus: SEBASTIBOB! Hamish ate the last piece of toast!

Inwardly, Seb rolled his eyes and sighed:

Here we go again.

Seb: It’s Sebastian.

Angus tilted his head to one side comically.

Angus: That’s what I said.

Seb: No. You said Sebastibob.

Angus: Yea. Sebastibob.

Without looking up, Timo joined in with the nonsense.

Timo: Sebastibob, pass the butter would you?

Seb closed his eyes briefly.

Hamish: It’s Sebastian.

Fergus: Sebastyblob!

Hans set his fork down at 9 o’clock with academic precision.

Hans: Technically that is not even a plausible phonetic degradation.

Lewis: I concur unequivocally.

Sebastibob is not a real name.

Angus: Shush, spectacled space goblin.

Toby, sitting next to Raven, dug him in the ribs and spoke quietly.

Toby: Mate. I’m staying out of this one.

Raven returned with a look of sage acknowledgment.

Raven: Yea, mate. I agree.

Later…

Angus: SEBASTIBOB! YOU DIDN’T TELL ME WE WAS GOING OUTSIDE!

Seb closed his eyes again for a full three seconds, pulled his beanie firmly down over his ears, and headed outside, certain that someone, somewhere, was writing a zero-plot chapter of his life story and laughing maniacally.
